Tonight I attended a “Mommy Blogger Party” hosted by the Silicon Valley Moms Group to promote one of my clients OliveSmart Sacks, maker of eco-friendly, reusable shopping bags. OliveSmart is a great fit for the SV Moms Group and the “Mommy Blogger Vertical”, as the company is co-founded and run by two local Woodside, California moms, Stephanie and Kerri.
As with many small businesses launched by moms-turned-entrepreneurs (also known as “mompreneurs”), one of OliveSmart’s key targets is — you guessed it, women (and moms). The Silicon Valley Moms Group offered my client the perfect opportunity to reach fifty of the most influential Mommy Bloggers in the Bay Area in one room for a sponsorship fee and some free giveaways. SV Moms Group did a great job building online buzz among the mom blogger community leading up to the event, and guests showed up with their Twitterberries and smart phones in hand to tweet about the products being featured. There was even an online Twitter Party (#svmomschevy @svmomsgroup) where Twitter followers of SV Mom Bloggers won sponsor prizes while the live party at Palo Alto’s Garden Court Hotel twittered on.
For the full scoop on the sponsors, see the SV Moms Group 2009 Holiday and Product Gift Guide.
Next, I’ll be helping OliveSmart measure the success of the event in terms of the impact on their Twitter and blog following (which are both just a few days old), as well as sales of the OliveSmart Sacks using the SVMOM tracking code in the coming weeks.
I’ll also be posting some reviews of the products I took home in my OliveSmart eco-friendly swaggg bag in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
